Neolithic park Staparska Gradina – STAPARK

Neolithic park Staparska Gradina “StaPARK” was built in the gorge of river Djetinja not far from archaeological sites Velika and Mala gradina, where the habitats of Neolithic man have been recognized and partially explored. Blended into the natural wealth of the Djetinja river gorge, STAPARK forms an integral part of the ambiance of the Donja Staparska spa, only 5 km from the urban area of the city of Uzice.

On an area of about 1,500 m², a settlement consisting of four above-ground buildings and one semi-dugout was built, equipped in accordance with the conditions of human life and work in the Neolithic period. Exhibitions dedicated to the processing of Neolithic ceramics, the making of tools and weapons, the preparation of food and the economy of Neolithic man are part of the permanent exhibition that adorns the Neolithic park. Animation programs in the field of ceramic processing, bone and stone processing, as well as the preparation of Neolithic food are available to visitors in a customized ambiance. For the youngest visitors, an educational workshop in the field of experimental archaeology is also offered. A little more skilled and demanding visitors can also try their hand at using a bow and arrow at the archery facility located within the settlement.

The for demonstrations, presentations, educational workshops, training and promotions is provided in a separate building that shows a house from the Bronze Age, which was identified on archaeological sites and is proof of continuous human life in these areas. The modernly equipped interior enables the organization of events in accordance with the modern needs of the audience.

Built from natural materials and by techniques characteristic of the Neolithic period with the comprehensive support of the professional public, StaPARK represents a unique tourist attraction for the wider area. The main function of the park is the education, training and animation of visitors of all ages, while creating conditions for scientific and research work.
