Mećavnik – Drvengrad
By reviving the old houses, transferred from the surrounding places the architect and the creator of the idea of a perfect everyday life, Emir Kusturica, has made a city. Mećavnik is a space for which at first glance one thinks that it has been snugged on the terrain for hundreds of years and that the ideal position for every house has been chosen by the firm hand of old builders. It is exciting to walk through the streets of Mećavnik in any time of the year, because each one of them offers different kind of pleasure and different view on the previous memory. The streets carry the names of grand artists, sportsmen and all those people who have left or are leaving the mark in the history of mankind with their ideas, while the central square with the church log cabin dedicated to Saint Sava represents the heart of this unusual little town. Drvengrad is as a small urban unity that has all elements of one city – from cultural space to restaurants, sport fields and places for gathering.
Special atmosphere of this place is given by numerous cultural contents. Within Drvengrad there is a cinema, gallery, library and amphitheater in the open, in which, throughout the year numerous projections, exhibitions, literary evenings and art programs are held. Due to this combination of art, tradition and contemporary cultural expression, Mećavnik has become a point of meeting of artists and culture enthusiasts from all over the world. A significant place in cultural life of Drvengrad has been International movie and music festival Küstendorf, which gathers renowned authors, young film creators and numerous guests from the film world every year. Apart from Küstendorf, there are other art and music manifestations held here, such as the Festival of classic and contemporary music „Boljšoj“, Autumn theatre festival, as well as various cultural programs that additionally contribute to the authenticity of Mokra Gora.
Mećavnik offers numerous possibilities for vacation and recreation – arranged pedestrian and trim paths, sport fields, closed pool, fitness and wellness contents, while in the immediate neighborhood there is a ski center Iver.
The complex possesses congress space dedicated to the organization of conferences and professional meetings, while gastronomic offer of the restaurant, based on the blend of traditional Serbian cuisine and contemporary culinary approaches, additionally completes the stay.
