Hitch-hiking and Mountain Climbing

Nicely arranged and marked mountain paths connect mountain Zlatibor and village of Zlakusa, Mokra Gora and Kadinjaca with the canjon of the river Derventa. You also can choose the mountain route named Terzica avlija (Terzic yard) divided into four paths, according to the level of length and difficulty. However, these paths are crossed at certain points to meet recreational or hiking demands of any level. For instance, the hiking route Jarevac located near the tourist resort Kaludjerske bare is 1,300 m long, and there is a 6,5 kilometers long hiking and educational path Banjska stena placed on Mitrovac.

In 2017, the European Association of Green Paths awarded the city of Uzice an award for the Uzice Green Path, the first of its kind in Serbia. It is intended for walking and cycling in a length of 7.2 kilometers. The green path is followed by marked paths for mountaineers.

Cyclist Tours

Hundreds of forest routes and pathways promise a real experience for lovers of shady natural quietness, but there are also technical and physical challenges for those with higher expectations. Wherever you decide to go, boredom is out of question, with constantly changing landscapes, downhill and uphill trails alternating with mild valley paths, breathtaking vistas and open horizons overlooking intact wilderness surrounded by hospitable villages with old traditional houses and welcoming hosts.

Hunting

Hunting ground Djetinja (54, 334 ha) breeds wild animal species such as the roe deer, chamois, rabbit, bear, pheasant, gray and rock partridge.

Hunting ground Sargan (13, 784 ha) is placed close to the famous old Sargan eight railway Here it is permitted to hunt roe deer, boar and rabbit. The same sorts of game animals are found at the hunting ground Jelova Gora.

Hunting ground Tara (17, 700) breeds the bear, chamois, roe deer, boar, rabbit, hazel grouse, and rock partridge. It is allowed to hunt the chamois, roe wild game and boar. During open and closed seasons, bear hunting is officially forbidden.

U Lovištu “Tara”, površine od oko 17.700 hektara gaje se: medved, divokoza, srna, divlja svinja, zec, leštarka i jarebica kamenjarka. Lov je dozvoljen na divokozu, srneću divljač i divlju svinju. Medved je lovostajem zaštićen cele godine.

Fishing

Pure rivers and crystal clear lakes represent a true heaven for passionate fishing lovers. Djetinja River is considered a mountain pearl because its rapids, cascades and whirls hide most valuable brown trout specimen. Six kilometers far from the city of Uzice there is also a fly whirlpool. Lake Vrutci traditionally hosts a game fishing competition in, and Lake Spajici is a trout whirlpool, but some large specimen of chub can also be found here.

Winter Sports

Winter sport activities manifest the essence of physical well being and positive vibrations. Ski resort Mokra Gora – Iver is seven kilometers far from ethno village Mećavnik. There are four ski runs with seven Sufag snow-making machines, and a ski lift capable to receive 1, 000 skiers per hour, and it’s used on all four ski runs. The total length of the four trails is four kilometers. Ski trail Nagramak is 860 m high and four kilometers far from 860 meters long ski path Mitrovac. This track is well lit so that passionate ski lovers can enjoy night skiing as well.

Created for beginners and recreation, the ski trail near Omorika hotel fulfils all the necessary requirements for night skiing.

National Park Tara

This park covers the largest part of the mountain Tara located in western Serbia. Due to the coexistence of diverse forest ecosystems, many of them being relic, the immense biodiversity and the fact that it is the natural habitat of Serbian spruce (Picea omorika), this mountain was established as a national park.

Did you know?

Specific terrain and convenient micro climate on the mountain Tara made possible the survival of the relic and endemic coniferous tree of the Balkan Peninsula – Picea omorika or Serbian Spruce (Serbian: Panciceva omorika). Among the fifty-three species of mammals found on Tara, the most attractive ones are the brown bear and the chamois. The native grasshopper (Pančićev skakavac) inhabits the relic dark pine forests, and the species most similar to it can be found in Palestine and Kurdistan. The Drina river canyon is the third deepest canyon in the world. Tara abandons in archaeological sites dating from the neolithic to medieval period.

Nature Park Mokra Gora

Nature Park Mokra Gora is well known for its outstanding geological heritage. There are Beli Rzav canyon, Djavolja cave, Hajduk Cave, Veliki skakavac waterfall, and numerous limestone land-forms: coves, gulfs, peat bogs and sinkholes; sulfate, alkaline and salty springs, and sedimentary rocks with fossil remains. There are minor rivers such as Beli Rzav, Kamesina i Bratesina, with many brooks and springs. The flora is differentiated into numerous species, the most widespread being oak and beech forests, dark and white pine, juniper and fir woods.

Potpec Cave – A Nature Monument

Located in the village Potpec nearby Uzice, this cave is unique for its monumental horseshoe- shaped entrance. The entrance is 50 m high and it is categorized among the highest entrances in Serbia and on the Balkans. Being stratified into two levels, the cave has got twelve separate parts. It is assumed that in the Neolithic period humans lived there. Archaeological remains of pottery, handcrafted deer horns and stone tools have also been found here.

Djetinja River Canyon

Three kilometers from the city centre begins a picturesque gorge of the river Djetinja. In its central part the gorge forms a captivating canyon officially marked for its exquisite land-forms and established as an utterly significant natural area. Biologically and geographically, this space features an array of ecological particularities. The wider space of Djetinja canyon abounds both in historical monuments and authentic natural scenes: the beach beneath the Old Town fortress and a waterfall Rajski otoci (Eden Isles). In addition to wonderful nature the visitors may enjoy in various activities in the canyon such as: cycling along the route of the old Cira railway, riding a zip line near the Old Town, enjoying the beautiful landscape by kayaking near the Great Dam or trying free climbing on natural rocks..
