Mecavnik – Drvengrad
Reviving the ancient houses of the region, the architect and creator of a perfect life that is out of the ordinary, Emir Kusturica, has built a town. Mecavnik is a universe on its own, which at first glance you will perceive as orchestrated and cuddled upon a terrain centuries old with each house being set by a hand of an old craftsman, settling into its ideal place as each year passes by. Thus, a Town that offers you features for an unforgettable holiday, bussines trip or a day break is a haven you will always be coming back to. The streets of Mecavnik are exciting to walk through at any period of the year as each season avails different pleasures and separate view of previous memory. The streets bare the names of distinctive artists, sportsmen and other great individuals who, through their ideas or accomplishments, have left or are still leaving a mark oin the history our humankind.
As does any other town, so does Kustendorf have central square and in it a St. Sava Church, the Mesa Selimovic Library, and The Stanley Cubric Movie Theater with the most advanced and latest picture and sound quality in the world. Just across the square id the Macola Gallery which hosts most renowned local and foreign artists, and right next door there is the national restaurant Lotika standing opposite a coffe and cake bar Kod Corkana ( at Corkan’s), not forgetting the colorful and irreplaceable Souvenir Shop Aska. Not far away, at the Diego Armando Maradona Square, you will find a sports center The Damned Alley which on it’s ground has an Inn, an Italian Restaurant, a gym, indoor pool, indoor basketball and volleyball court, saunas, billiard room and a night club.
Encompassed in the various offers are a trim path, and some 7 km from the city is the skiing center.
The necessities which today’s life instructs, such as wireless internet, do however exist at Kustendorf. What you cannot find at Mecavnik are two exactly the same rooms, as each has a uniquely painted and decorated furniture and interior, an inimitable view through the window, and a unique way to reach the room, apartment or detached house of your choice. A special contribution to the promotion of Mokra Gora was made by our famous film director Emir Kusturica who shot his film ” Life is a Miracle ” there. Having built an ethno – village on the hill of Mecavnik, Emir became a resident of Mokra Gora.
